Men’s Group: Every other Tuesday 6-8 PM

Most men in America are profoundly lonely.  To stereotype, we men SUCK at connecting deeply with others.  We may have our drinking buddies, or our colleagues.  If we are lucky, we have a spouse and kids that appreciate us.  But the loneliness is deeper than that – through our upbringing and culture (along with some evolutionary pieces), men, compared to women, are way too solitary for their own good. This issue is so built in to our society, that it is hypothesized to be one of the contributing factors to why women live longer than men.  This men’s support group is intended to provide a safe “tribe” to work on issues of vulnerability, potency, as well as mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and addiction.  Through readings, discussion, mutual support, and interpersonal focus, members will work on what gets in the way of our connecting – to others and to ourselves.   In so doing, with mindfulness and compassion, we will build a community of mutual support.
