Meet Ben Rea, LCSW
Hi, I’m Ben.
With nearly two decades immersed in the practice of psychotherapy as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), my focus lies in the intricate interplay of family systems, psychodynamic theories, transactional analysis, and interpersonal dynamics. This rich tapestry of experience has shaped my therapeutic approach.
I'm all about directness and teamwork. We will address your personal challenges by combining various methods and tools that fit your individual situation. My aim is to provide you with a personalized experience that aligns with your needs and preferences. Let's work together to find the path forward that feels right for you.
About Ben.
I was born in South Africa but my upbringing was split between Omaha, Nebraska, and various French-speaking African countries. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Virginia with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Studio Art. My graduate thesis on "Indirect Interpersonal Conflict and its Effects on Children," was acclaimed and awarded a "Highest Honors" distinction.
Following undergraduate work, my journey took me into both the realms of professional artistry, showcasing in prominent galleries across the United States, and psychology research, with publications from esteemed institutions like the University of Georgia, Emory University, Georgia State University, and the University of Denver. I had the privilege of presenting my findings at national conferences while pursuing my MSW from the University of Georgia, where I completed two Master's theses.
In my years post-licensure, I have established private practices in San Francisco and San Luis Obispo, California. Now happily married with three children, I remain deeply involved in the field, embracing the vibrant community and serene landscapes that define the "SLO lifestyle."
